RandQuot v1.0
Random Quote Generator for Remote Access
By Ben Howard of 2010 BBS (512)345-5648 -- 1:382/20
*****************************************************************************
This is a simple program that changes the type 7/15 loading message in
your CONFIG.RA file. It runs off of the following files :
RANDQUOT.EXE -- Executable program file
RANDQUOT.TXT -- Quote file, straight text
There really isn't much to this program... just put it in your batchfile and
go... but for specifics, here's some more detailed instructions.
***** Setup
Ok... in your batch file, you merely run it like this : (assuming you run an
external mailer program, and exit to RA)
(exit out of your mailer here)
RANDQUOT.EXE
(run RemoteAccess here)
simple enough, eh? It should be... if you figured out how to set up RA with
an external mailer, you should have absolutlely no problem with this.
*****Configuration
Don't like the quotes that came with it? Getting tired of seeing "Love is
like Methane Gas" or "Living Colour isz gaud!!" all the time? Then you can
customize your quote file rather easily. Just whip out your text editor, and
fire away...
***REMEMBER : the 7/15 line in RA can be up to 70 characters in length***
when you get through editing, count the number of qoutes In your RANDQUOT.TXT
file, and go to the top of the file and change the number at the top. The
number of quotes is equal to the number of lines in the file minus one, that
one being the number at the top of the file, which is never picked as a quote.
this is too easy... phun!!!
******Registration
AIIIIGH!!! He said the R-word!!!!
Let me tell you something about this program. I consider this
program to be a little trinket on your BBS, and it represents "thousands of
hours of work" (a little programmer's cliche' for ya...). Actually, it only
represents about 3 or 4 hours of work, and it isn't worth a big registration
fee. The way I see it, after you shell out $50 for your RA registration, and
more money for your doorgames (if you have any) and more money if you run a
big feature-packed mailer (like Front Door or D'Bridge), you don't want to
cough up another 10 or 15 dollars for this little thing. What does all this
mean? ***IT'S FREE!!!*** (jubilation! hallelujah!) and all I want from you
is for you to run it. But ...
THIS PROGRAM IS PROVIDED "AS IS." IF IT MAKES YOUR
COMPUTER BLOW UP AND MELT, IT ISN'T MY PROBLEM.
But why would it do that? (Mwuhahahahahah!!!) Just kidding... Seriously,
you run this program because you want to, and I am not responsible for
anything it might do to your system.
Have fun with RandQuot! ;-)
******For you good hearted people
If you feel you just HAVE to send me some money, I'll gladly accept
it. Send any and all donations to:

For the miniscule (huh?) sum of 10 dollars, you can have the source
code to this wonderful little piece of software... just print out the form
below and sign it, and send a check or money order to me. You'll get your
name and board name/number in a nice little text file that will be distributed
in future version, and you'll get the source code RandQuot.

By signing this form, I enter a formal agreement with the author of
RandQuot, Ben Howard. The author agrees to send the signer a copy of the
source code to RandQuot, and make a mention of the signer as a contributor.
The signer agrees to modify it in any way he wishes, as long as he leaves the
author's name in the source code exactly where it is, does not change the name
of the program, and does not distribute the modified RandQuot to ANYONE.
